| Watching crash always has an effect on my perception of how so many different things can and are viewed and also demonstrated in our society. The movie defiantly is a result of stereotyping, totalizing, discrimination and racism. One of the things I noticed from the movie was how ludicrous totalized and was very racist about white Americans. To the point were he was so delirious that European Americans are so racist against him it’s turned him into the biggest racist of the movie in my opinion. Defiantly the movie was about how people can be both victims and perpetrators. In the case of Sandra Bullocks character she was in the beginning a victim to ludicrous stereotype of her being afraid of them and how she was car jacked. And then she in turn is racist to the locksmith when he changes her lock. I think that many of the remarks in the movie bear traces in history because that’s how we got the ideas and in some cases reasons for racism now, for example ludicrous is holing on to the grudge that his people faced in the past but he wasn’t oppressed by it and people now aren’t oppressing him but he still holds on. How can we ever move past racism and other discriminatory categories if we can’t start clean? This brings me to think that we need to intervene to help bring about this change and new beginning. |
